AWC Vienna 2011
The competition in Vienna, where thousands of samples from all over the world gather every year, is also enjoying increasing success among Slovak winemakers. Currently, it has already become the largest international competition, where up to 10,000 samples competed in 2011. This competition is close to our hearts. Austria, as a country with a long tradition of producing sweet wines, is the biggest challenge for us and at the same time it also best reflects how our wines compare with the world's best. Many Slovak wineries participate in this competition every year, and of course we would not like to be left behind. Therefore, like last year, we sent a set of 9 wines that represented our assortment. None of us expected the success that came. By winning five gold medals, we once again became the most successful winery in Slovakia. Tramín straw 31, but this time from the year 2010, made it as the only one from Slovakia to the final mastertasting - among the 6 best straw wines of the entire competition. Each year, the competition also evaluates individual wineries, from zero to 3 stars according to the success of their wine collection. This then testifies to the quality of not only one wine but the entire winery. We were very pleased to receive two stars in the overall ranking of wineries in the world. Despite that, the bad luck was that we were only 2 points out of 546 points short of getting three stars, the highest award, which only tens of thousands get.
